Jobs and Schools
The library has a collection of books on schools, testing, and college, professional and graduate school admissions. This collection also includes books on resume writing and job searching. Here are a few websites you may use to help you online in a job search or for information about schools.
WEBS is an award winning career and educational counseling service run by the Westchester Library System. They offer group and individual help. Search their web site for information on schools and all aspects of job searching. This site also includes an invaluable collection of links.
Learning Express has online resources for job searching. It also has sample questions for civil service, teaching, EMT, ASVAB and other jobs. Learning Express has practice college admission tests such as the ACT, SAT and CUNY; graduate programs such as GED, GMAT, LSAT and MCAT. Helen Ferris Tibbets Collection of Children's Books & Books About Children's Literature
This collection was given by Helen Tibbets, a writer, friend of Eleanor Roosevelt and one of the founders of the library in North Salem. These books are not cataloged and are housed in the director's office. They may be used by the public.
Helen Whitman Memorial Herbal Collection of Books on Gardening
Helen Whitman owned an herb farm in North Salem and donated her collection of gardening books to the library. They are cataloged and are housed in the director's office. They may be used by the public.
The library has a small collection of materials relating to the history of North Salem, surrounding towns and Westchester County. It is a good place to start doing research on aspects of local history. For further information contact:
